Gulf Coast Wonder & Imagination Zone (G. WIZ)
Hand-on science exhibits and activities aimed at kids, including an echo chamber, reptiles and mice, electricity displays and more.
Historic Spanish Point
A unique 30-acre environmental, historical and archaeological site haunted by ghosts of prehistoric Indians, the pioneer Webb family and society matron Mrs. Potter Palmer, all of whom made their homes here.
Cars and Music of Yesteryear
An ecletic mix of autos from ages past, along with scores of historic music boxes and Victrolas.
Ca d’Zan; the Circus Galleries
Two of the biggest draws at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art are the Ringlings’ 1920’s mansion, Ca d’Zan, with its Italianate style and beautiful gardens.
Marie Selby Botanical Gardens
Orchids, orchids everywhere! Banyans and bromeliads are just a few of the species in this green oasis along Sarasota’s bayfront. There’s also a small museum and a gift shop.
Mote Marine Science Center and Aquarium
This working marine laboratory mixes the right amount of learning and fun through informative exhibits portraying underwater life. The touch tank is a popular way to get up close with a variety of marine life.
Pelican Man’s Bird Sanctuary
Pelicans and other wounded birds take refuge here, making for an avian attraction that really serves a rehabilitation purpose.
Jungle Gardens
Kids love Jungle Gardens’ bird and reptile shows and adults enjoy strolling the 10 tropical acres filled with trees, plants, flowers and pink flamingos.

Siesta Public Beach is the most famous and most popular of our beaches. This is where you’ll find the world’s finest, whitest sand. It’s the widest beach in the county. This sparking white sand beach is within walking distance to Siesta Village, a shopping and dining mecca with an island flair.
Lido Beach is located mid-island on Lido Key and is only minutes to St. Armands Circle. The facilities at this beach are outstanding and include showers, lockers, dressing rooms, a pool, a concession stand, public meeting rooms, shops and a children’s playground.
Turtle Beach is a tranquil beach located on the southernmost tip of Siesta Key on Midnight Pass Road, about two and one-half miles south of Stickney Point Road. It’s a wonderful place to spend a few hours sunbathing, reading or picknicking under its covered shelter.
Palmer Point Beach begins at the southern tip of Siesta Key and continues onto the north end of Casey Key. This beach will give you a feeling of privacy and seclusion. It’s a beautiful, gently sloping beach with a pristine dune system.
Longboat Key is for those who prefer seclusion. These pristine beaches are a well-kept secret and public access is at a minimum.
Coquina Beach on Anna Maria’s southern tip, is a lovely and popular public beach lined with towering Australian pines. Families can enjoy this park because of its full-service concession stand, picnic facilities, playground, restrooms and lifeguards
The Arts
Sarasota Film Festival
The Sarasota Film Society brings many brilliant films to local audiences, focusing its attention on less mainstream movies and foreign features. The annual film festival is a culmination of the group’s efforts and has brought national exposure to our community.
Florida Studio Theatre
Known as Sarasota’s contemporary theater,Florida Studio Theatre is located in the heart of the theater and arts district in downtown Sarasota, and offers two different theater experiences….the mainstage and the cabaret.
Asolo/FSU Center for the Performing Arts
Originally founded by Florida State University in 1960 as a summer theatre company, the Asolo Theatre Company became a year-round professional theatre in 1966. The Asolo provides new artists a vehicle to produce their latest works, in addition to the classic revivals and perennial favorites performed throughout each season.
Sarasota Orchestra
The prestigious Florida West Coast Symphony is the oldest continuing orchestra in the State of Florida and is now known as The Sarasota Orchestra. From its inception in 1949, the Florida West Coast Symphony performs at several Manatee and Sarasota County community venues.
The Golden Apple Dinner Theatre
This is a Sarasota Landmark that has since 1972 transported audiences with electrifying performances and delicious cuisine. The Golden Apple brings to Florida’s Suncoast, the drama and excitement, the energy and passion of Broadway.
